'NOT FOR SALE'
ART PROCESSES 1
2022
Australian Native nuts, flowers, and bark will be collected from Victoria Public Park, vacuum packaged with PETG plastic, and sold 70 meters away at a stall in Glebe Markets. ‘NOT FOR SALE’ is about packaging as an effect of capitalism and questions the ownership of nature through irony.

Inspired by Amy Frearson’s article on plastic and art, this modern material contrasts the natural pieces it forms around, to highlight the ownership packaging has in capitalism. The point of privatisation, however, is debatable – is it at the point of collection? When it is packaged? Or when it is sold?

Ethics is also tested. Should a public item be privatised in such a way to gain profit? Does labour cause privatisation? Isn’t every product derived from nature?
