"EATING WITH THE MOST INTERESTING PERSON YOU KNOW"
PART 1
In this studio, abstraction was used to express design ideas based on a chosen client. I chose Massimo Bottura, an Italian restaurateur, whose “highlight the imperfections” philosophy led me to explore the idea destructivism. Through models, I explored shattering through different mediums, which led me to the distorted triangular shapes of corn chips. The final abstract model of clear acrylic communicates the abstracted idea of destructivism.
Part 2
The previous abstract model was then used to provide the client with a workspace.
The design evolved into two shells creating a restaurant where the chef’s centred workspace becomes a theatre-like atmosphere with an emphasis on individual experience while eating.
